Using Assistive Technologies to Support Disabled Apprentices @ University of Highlands & Islands

Established in 1992, Concept Northern specialise in supporting people with disabilities and learning difficulties in employment and education by using assistive technologies.

Sign up for this session if you would like to:

  • Understand how assistive technologies can support apprentices with learning difficulties, learning disabilities, visual and hearing impairments
  • Understand how to support apprentices to use Access to Work
  • Understand how the ASN Funding can support individuals on employability programmes

This workshop is only open to NTP training providers.

Equate Scotland makes a positive difference for women in science, engineering, technology and the built environment. Established in 2006, Equate Scotland is the national expert in gender equality throughout the STEM sectors. Equate Scotland works alongside industry, academia, the Scottish Government and public bodies, creating positive changes in employment practices and workplace cultures to support the recruitment, retention and progression of women in STEM.

This session will enable you to:

  • Review unconscious bias in the STEM workplace and how it affects our decision making.
  • Gain knowledge of the practical steps needed to encourage talented women to join and stay in STEM apprenticeships.
  • Consider the role of language, design and marketing in both the workplace and during recruitment.

This workshop is only open to NTP training providers.

Supporting Muslim Women and Minority Ethnic Groups into Apprenticeships @ Radisson Blu, Glasgow

Amina aims to inspire Muslim women to fulfil their true potential and empower them to participate fully in all aspects of society, without fear of discrimination or inequality.

By using a range of exercises and discussions the workshop will enable you to:

  • Understand and reflect on the lack of Muslim and minority ethnic uptake in national training programmes
  • Understand why we need to focus on increasing participation in apprenticeships by Muslim and minority ethnic groups
  • Deepen your understanding of the barriers for young Muslim and minority ethnic people in accessing apprenticeships
  • Take simple, practical steps to ensure your programmes are more accessible and inclusive for Muslim and minority ethnic people
